Harrah’s Believes They Will Have Success in Online Gambling

Posted under Casino News by admin on June 18, 2009 7:50 pm ||

MGM tried and failed to enter the online gambling market several years back.  Like MGM, Harrah’s has planned to start offering its Internet gambling product in Europe where it will compete head on with the likes of Ladbrokes and William Hill.

Unlike MGM, Harrah’s has a foothold in the industry already as the owners of the World Series of Poker.  That being said, the WSOPE in its second year witnessed zero growth in Europe.

Not everyone in Vegas is on the cyber gambling bandwagon, writes Liz Benston of the Las Vegas Sun.

European Union
The European Union is once again trying to put their foot down when it comes to online gambling in the US. Although previous attempts have been ignored by the US, the EU again asked on Wednesday for the US to change their laws.

Just last week New York’s Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, shut down nearly a dozen collection agencies as part of an investigation into the ARM industry.

Russ Hamilton Won’t be at Table of Champions

The WSOP is off to a roaring start. If the economy is affecting the poker players, the numbers don’t show it. There have been three events so far and each event has set a record for the number of players entered. I’ve always said that poker players are a great barometer of the economy and this is a positive sign. Let’s hope so anyway.

I’ve played one event, the $40K. I made it through the 1st day and had above average chips but never won a pot the second day. Out of 208 entries, I was #78. Annoying to beat almost 2/3 of the field and wind up $40,000 loser. It was a good event however with the winner getting almost $2 million.

Mike Caro and I are giving poker seminars at the Rio.

Scottish singing sensation, Susan Boyle, was said to be in good spirits heading into Saturday night’s much anticipated finale of Britain’s Got Talent as betting on the show reaches record numbers.

The 48-year-old Boyle remains favourite to beat nine other other acts vying for the £100,000 prize and the chance to sing at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond backed Boyle, not surprisingly.

"Susan Boyle has put her home town of Blackburn, West Lothian, well and truly on the map.

"Her outstanding performances in singing I Dreamed a Dream and Memory have catapulted her to global stardom.
