The initial round of qualifying matches for football’s 2012 European Championships takes place later this week with England set to face Bulgaria in London for the first time in over a decade.

The Saints began their preseason with a 27-24 loss to the New England Patriots last Thursday. Offensively, the squad was unimpressive, though, some of that can be chalked up to rust. For receivers, Adrian Arrington had four catches for 87 yards, while tight end, Jeremy Shockey chipped in with three catches.

Defensively, Jonathan Casillas led the team with 10 tackles and one sack, and Usama Young chipped in with four tackles. Adrian Foster got the nod at starting running back and came up with a 31 yard on four carry effort. Steve Slaton chipped in with 22 yards on 10 carries, while Ben Tate got injured. For the reserves, Dan Orlovsky got the majority of the playing time under center and went 12 for 21 for 129 yards.
