The Birmingham Mail newspaper in the UK has reported on a Facebook poker phishing scam that almost succeeded this week.

The West Mercia online gambler, who played poker on Facebook, buying electronic chips through internet payment system PayPal, has warned other players to be careful after receiving a phishing email.

He responded to the email, which appeared to come from the site, asking him for his login details and password, which he provided. That gave the scammers access to payment details, and an attempt was made to buy £180-worth of Facebook poker chips.

Fortunately for the player, there were insufficient funds in his account, and the transaction failed.

Fruitful 7s: New WinADayCasino proprietary slot

WinADayCasino launched its latest slot offering “Fruitful 7s” this week. The Instant-play online casino says it has gone back to the basics on its 25th proprietary game, a traditional pub-style fruit machine slot featuring classic symbols alongside payouts of up to 500 times the stake in the base game or 2,500 times in the bonus round and ‘lots of free spins with variable multipliers’.

Michael Hilary, Manager for WinADayCasino says: ““Players definitely love the really spectacular games with elaborate bonus features but the simpler games like Slot-O-Matic are also popular. So, for the new Fruitful 7s we thought we’d get back to basics with old school lemons and cherries. No genies. No mummies. No built in sim game. Just good old cherries, lemons, sevens and bars.”

The free spin symbol serves as the scatter in Fruitful 7s and players that line up three or more in one payline will be rewarded with 15 free spins.

To begin the bonus round, players choose to use a one, three or five-time multiplier for the first five spins and then select from the remaining two choices for the next five goes before using the remaining selection for the final five attempts.

“Since players can win more free spins even on a free spin, they can get lots of extra play time on this new game that’s destined to be an all time favourite,” Hilary said.

New online webcam poker site

This week sees the real money launch of a new Webcam-powered and Malta-licensed online poker site branded Pokerview.

The rather uninspiring but full service website has limited information on the owners and operators, but it is available in multi-lingual versions indicating a European targeting.

The marketing director is identified as one Michael Dunsberg, who claims: “Online poker is a social game and playing against a picture of someone’s cat is not particularly engaging. Anonymous avatars rob the game of some of its strategic depth and sense of fairness.

“On Pokerview, players face off on tables where they are represented by webcams. All tables are monitored to ensure that players remain visible throughout game play. For players who don’t have access to a web camera, Pokerview offers one for free.

“For players who don’t yet feel up to playing face-to-face with their opponents, standard avatar tables are also available.”

Pokerview’s random card shuffler is tested and certified by IDQ; the site offers Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Stud and 7 Card Stud action, along with a poker school and tutorials for novice players. The Mac and Windows-compatible software provider is not at this stage known.
