Man scoops $1.8m Gold Mega Party Casino slots jackpot

Posted under Casino News by admin on May 25, 2010 11:36 am ||

Online gambler ‘Arkry222′ is probably still celebrating his good fortune after hitting a $1.8 million slots jackpot win at Party Casino earlier this month. The 48-year-old player, who works on a horse ranch, won $1,888,198 on the internet casino’s Gold Mega Jackpot slot – all from just a two-dollar spin on its Super Star game. And because the Gold Mega Jackpot was tied into the Grand Win Auto leader board promotion, his fortune saw another player rewarded with a new Maserati Gran Tourismo car.

“It was a Friday night and I wasn’t far off going to bed and I was sat at the computer,” said ‘Arky222′ this week.

“I actually had the volume turned down on the computer as I had the television on. I was playing Super Star and all of a sudden these squares came up. I hit ‘complete’ and the screen lit up in loads of colour. Then the number appeared on the screen. I have never seen so many numbers in my life; it was like an international phone number!”

As the realisation seeped in that he had just won a life-changing sum of hard cash, the player stare at his computer screen in disbelief. “I was numb,” he recalls.

“I was on a different planet. It was then that I realised that I had missed a call from the VIP team at Party Casino and it started to sink in a little bit more. I hadn’t been feeling well all week but now I was just in this strange kind of happy limbo. I went back into my account and there it was, over $1.8 million.

“I think I am going to have to spend the money on a holiday, a new car and a new house,” Arky222 told casino management. “It will also allow me to be become more flexible with my working hours as I am going to go freelance.”

The Grand Win Auto leader board promotion was due to run from May 6 to 19 and was based on the concept that the player sitting at the top of the board when the Gold Mega Jackpot was hit would be awarded with the new Maserati car or a cash equivalent.

“It didn’t hit me until the next day that by winning the Gold Mega Jackpot someone else had won a Maserati,” said ‘Arky222′. “All I can say is to enjoy your drive, mate, and get in touch. Fancy taking me for a spin?”

NHL: Philadelphia to test Montreal’s mettle again

Posted under Casino News by admin on May 20, 2010 12:29 pm ||

The Flyers are -190 home favorites to do so according to Sportsbook.com for their potentially series clinching game against the visiting Canadiens.

"With each series, it obviously gets harder and harder, but I don’t think you can look past that next game and that next win," Philadelphia defenseman Chris Pronger said. "You’ve got to focus on closing out a team and being closers. We’ve got a team now down 3-1. We’ve got to get that fourth win.

"We’ve got to understand what it’s going to take, because they’re obviously a team that’s had their backs against the wall throughout the course of this playoff, through Washington and Pittsburgh, and they’ve been able to rally and come back. We obviously want to stymie that and make sure we’re putting our foot on the throat."

The Flyers have won 21 of their last 28 home games and can advance to the Cups Finals for the first time in 13 years with a fourth and deciding victory over the Canadiens. Philadelphia is well aware the danger Montreal presents, having seen them come from behind against the Capitals and Penguins to win series and their 5-0 record in elimination games.

"We have to be careful," Flyers forward Danny Briere said. "If there’s a team that would know that, it’s us, with what we were able to do in the previous round to the Bruins, and also what Montreal did to Washington and Pittsburgh. We’re definitely not going to take them for granted. There’s still one big win.

"We always say the fourth one or the last one is always the toughest to get against a team. We expect them to come out with a lot of desperation in Game 5, but at the same time, yes, we know we’re getting closer." The Flyers know a thing or two about desperation, having trailed 3-0 to Boston before winning the next four.

Philadelphia has now won seven of last eight and shutout Montreal three times in the series with domineering defense and the fine goaltending of Michael Leighton, who only had to face 17 shots in last contest (one in the second period).

"One of our main goals was to play better defensively and I don’t know how many times they came down the wing trying to fire pucks at me, and we had our ‘D’ men who stuck their stick out and it went up in the crowds," Leighton said. "We talked right before the game and said we want to block as many shots and stop them charging the net and we did. We definitely showed up to play."

For the Habs, the situation certainly appears bleak, but it is far from over as far as they are concerned, with their 9-4 record off a home loss by three or more goals. "We put ourselves in this hole and it is what it is. We’ve got to go and win a game," Montreal defenseman Hal Gill said.

Sportsbook.com has Philly as a -190 money line favorite with the ‘total’ at 5. They are 20-7 as home ice favorites. They will arrive at Game Five 10-4 UNDER in home games after a win by two goals or more this season. Montreal will try and manufacture one more miracle and is 11-5 after being defeated by three or more goals and is 10-3 UNDER on the road after scoring one goal or less this campaign.

The East Final has a 7:00 Eastern start on VERSUS and CBC and if Philadelphia does emerge victorious, one person who deserves a lot of credit is Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette.

It took him until the last few weeks of the regular season to convince this team how good it can be and he never let them get down on themselves in the Bruins series. After tonight, Philadelphia might be thinking about bringing home first Stanley Cup title since 1975.

Phil Laak Seeks Challengers for Poker Endurance

Gambling Execs Encouraged to Invest in Domains

Posted under Casino News by admin on May 15, 2010 12:39 pm ||

The world is considered a pretty small place these days, largely thanks to the internet aka WWW, and of course airlines and Lear Jets, operated by our "partners in crime", Crown Casino king James Packer and Virgin king of the world, Sir Richard Branson.

Media Man and Gambling911, both considered world leading internet new media powerhouses of sorts, probe the beast that is the World Wide Web, casting out net far and wide…hauling in whales, dolphins, tuna, algae, and likely, a few sharks!  Sharks… another reason to shore up your business enterprise with a few more domain names… read on…

In the internet (and news media, gaming and sports betting business) sector, there’s only so much room at the top, and just like prime real estate in Sydney, Gold Coast, New York and Florida, there’s only so many prime sports available… the same holds true for personalized number plates also, like HIGH ROLLER, BALLER, CASINO KING, VIRGIN KING, POKER WSOP and you get the idea.

Given the current state of the internet, gaming and publishing world, Media Man is delighted (and relieved) that we made the decision to buy up big on media, sporting, gaming and casino related domain names a few years ago.

Having a considerable portfolio of owned domain names (some with website portals attached, some not), serves a number of purposes.

a. Domain names help brand your business

b. Owning numerous domain names and websites help one dominate the important top 10 Google, Yahoo and Bing search engine and news results

c. Domains help keep competitors out so you can "own" a business sector

d. Added copyright protection to stop cyber squatters, cyber criminals and the like

e. Help control the information that appears for your business and personal profile

f. Helps drive extra online traffic

g. Serves a solid investment in the event that you may like to sell off some names and / or websites when you can get the price you want

h. Peace of mind

i. And more

Friend, the amount of decent, prime and gold domain names is drying up… not sure?  Just do a search for some domain name addresses you would like to own, and there’s a good chance someone else already owns them!  One may argue that the great real estate rush on internet domain names has come and gone, and now most of the best names are already owned.

The lack of good .com domain names has boosted the popularity of .net .org. .com.au and even .asia and .tv by default.

Even good blog, YouTube and Twitter names are getting harder to find.

Let’s look at some of the technical reasons good domain names are becoming harder to secure…

Internet protocol addresses are running out rapidly.. too many humans, not enough unique addresses

An IP address uses 4 numbers from 0 to 255 to distinguish one computer from another.

Limited Combinations

There are more than 4 billion combinations… however, the amount of networked devices means that soon won’t be enough.

Readers, perhaps you can recall a decade or 2 ago when you have to change your phone number… maybe a digit or two got added… this happened to free up more available names and combos etc… well, it won’t work exactly that with the the WWW, but there will be some similarities (and considerable more chaos).

Internet and comms geeks at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, Geoff Huston sheds some light on the matter…

"Unlike the telephone system, it’s not easy to just add more digits,".

Although every telephone number in Australia was successfully altered, the phones themselves didn’t change. Humans simply dialled an extra number and folks everywhere still answered.

But every web server, every iPhone, every router and everything else – possibly billions of devices – will need to be reconfigured or upgraded. "The idea that every last one has to go back into the doctor for a new transplant does sound a bit frightening," Huston says. "It’s almost like having to teach every device a new language."

New language: IPv6

Fortunately, a new language exists.

Computers now use IP version 4 and have since the 1980s. Its replacement is version 6, known as IPv6. For humans, little will change. The traditional way we visit a website, by typing google.com or facebook.com, won’t be any different and personal computers will automatically use IPv4 or IPv6 as required.

Technically, it’s not all that difficult to enable IPv6. Logistically, it’s a horrendous challenge.

Background To Original Internet

Experts say punters won’t be prepared to pay more (but whales and big corporates, cashed up casino entrepreneurs and the like might be).

It’s even possible that large numbers of people will no longer be able to see everything on the internet.

So far, the dwindling storehouse of IP addresses has been managed with trickery that translates one IP address to another.

But by about late September next year, the key body that distributes IP addresses will run out of them. Three months after that, every drop in the pipeline will dry up and the only way to get an IPv4 address will be to buy one from someone else.

Lacking that, consumers whose computers are not configured to use IPv6 won’t see new websites. Likewise, iPhones, which don’t understand IPv6, will be limited to the "old" internet. For businesses that are not prepared, this could spell Big Trouble In Little China.

Unless web servers and mobile phone services are configured to send information via IPv4 as well as IPv6, companies could be left with a fraction of their current customers.

Some good news is that once IPv6 is in place, it should satisfy demand as far as a computer can calculate. "If every single address was one grain of sand", web geek genius Huston says, "in IPv6 you could build 300 million planets the size of Earth."

So punters, media and gaming entrepreneurs and everyone else.

Media Man and Gambling911 have given you the heads up… might be an idea to invest in some more domain names before every single one is gone under the current system.

Be wary to some casino affiliate programs running domain name auctions and the like. The hype associated with these, especially if conducted at a live event, is only going to increase the chances of the domain names prices being inflated ..jacked up! Casino Jack.

Ok, a few more real examples… some half wits tried to imitate and ride off the good name of Gambling911 and also Media Man (including Australia and International).

JackpotJoy.com is tops – Online Casino News

Posted under Casino News by admin on 5:20 am ||

Gibraltar-licensed JackpotJoy.com is now the most popular online bingo site for UK players after overtaking leaders including FoxyBingo.com GalaBingo.com and Tombola.co.uk.

According to new research released by global online competitive intelligence service Experian Hitwise, JackpotJoy.com was the most visited bingo domain in the UK over April after overtaking Tombola.co.uk.

The news is definitely good for JackpotJoy.com as it only re-launched with a new-look website featuring a more flashy design a little over a month ago.

“As a website, it made sense to focus our marketing online,” said Bengu Davies, Head Of Online Media for JackpotJoy.com.

“It also enables us to target our market very closely, helping us to minimise wasted spending and concentrate our message. Our current position as the most visited online bingo site, without being well-known on the streets, reflects the success of this targeted strategy.”

“Our number-one ranking with Experian Hitwise has confirmed our ability to appeal directly to online bingo players who make up a large enough market to generate the regular jackpots less experienced bingo players might expect,” said Adele Lawton, Head for JackpotJoy.com.

“It looks like our plans for expansion over the summer and into the autumn seem to be perfectly timed.”

NHL: Philadelphia Flyers Seeking Playoff Liberty

Posted under Casino News by admin on May 10, 2010 2:24 pm ||

The Philadelphia hockey franchise and Boston Bruins have enjoyed many memorable meetings decades ago but Friday’s Game 7 could surpass all of those depending on the outcome. Even so, as this series heads to a nerve-wracking deciding contest, it has already left a mark. Sportsbook.com lists host Boston as a -125 favorite with a total of 5Ov. Let’s take a closer look at the game.

The History

One team wants to embrace history the other wants nothing to do with it. Philadelphia has comeback from a 3-0 series deficit to even up this Eastern semi-final confrontation. Philadelphia will attempt to become the third NHL team to win a series after losing its first three games Friday night in Boston. The other two successful teams were the 1975 New York Islanders and the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Flyers are the fifth different team to force such an occurrence (The Islanders did it twice) and the originally trailing team is 2-3 all time.

This year was the 17th time Boston has taken a 3-0 lead in a series and this will be the second time in their history (1939 they beat the New York Rangers) they will be playing seventh game.

What Philly changed

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette decided to attack the Bruins differently after falling behind 3-0 in the series and why not, what was there to lose at the time.

Philadelphia became more aggressive when Boston reached the blue line on offense and was aggressive in stick-checks, getting into passing lanes and giving a total effort in blocking shots. Though it didn’t work at first in the 5-4 overtime win in Game 4, the results the last two games has Boston putting the puck in the net just once in the last two contests on 54 shots.

With goaltender Michael Leighton coerced into action because of injury to Brian Boucher, the Flyers players blocked 30 shots plus the 30 Leighton stopped in Game 6′s 2-1 triumph. Philadelphia has won eight of last 11 with a day between games.

Where Boston went wrong

After playing almost flawlessly, Bruins players are hurting their own team taking penalties that lack discipline. Boston has been called for 13 penalties the last two games compared to Philly’s six and the Flyers are 2-0 in scoring in man advantage situations.

"We have to do a better job at being disciplined," said Boston forward Milan Lucic. "They’re doing a good job with that, so we have to do an even better job than them. It’s important. It sucks for me in the second when we take a bunch of penalties in a row and I’m sitting on the bench for the last six minutes. It gets guys sitting around for a bit who don’t penalty kill. We have to do a better job as a team not taking penalties."

It’s starting to look like the losses of Marcus Strum and David Krejci in this series are taking their toll for a squad that wasn’t good offensively to begin with. Though Boston has kept up a good volume of shots on goal, the degree of difficulty for the goaltender has been relatively simple. The Bruins need a player or two to manufacture a goal for team that is 4-1 after scoring two or fewer goals.

What the numbers say

Boston is a -125 money line favorite at Sportsbook.com with total of Ov5. The Bruins have taken seven of eight as home faves but have issues to deal with.

"I’m sure the pressure is mounting even more," the Flyers Daniel Briere said. Boston is 1-8 at home after two or more defeats and 16-6-6 UNDER as a favorite of -110 to -150.

Philadelphia has all the momentum and conviction they are team of destiny, even if they are 3-9 as road underdogs. "Now that we’re here and now that we’ve climbed all the way back in this series, we want it too," Briere said. "We have to realize that the last game will be the toughest to leave with." The Flyers are 7-1 as visitors after a home win by a single goal.

This series finale has a 7:00 Eastern start on VERSUS with Philly 6-2-1 UNDER as postseason dogs. The winner will have home ice advantage in the East Finals against Montreal.

French Constitutional Council pleads incompetent in EU scrap

Posted under Casino News by admin on 6:40 am ||

More than 60 French members of parliament who requested the French Constitutional Council to rule on the country’s new online gambling laws received a rebuff this week when the Council acknowledged that it is not competent to assess whether the new laws are compliant with European Union law and requirements.

In publishing the Council’s decision, the European Gaming and Betting Association, a trade association for online gambling groups in the region, said that whilst it welcomed the French move away from state monopolised gambling, it remains concerned at the French disregard for the cross border and digital nature of the market.

Under the new French law, well-established EU operators will be forced to comply with local requirements which unnecessarily duplicate controls and guarantees already in place, damaging user experience and undermining acceptable security measures.

EGBA fears that the new law will introduce “severe distortion of competition and disproportionate market restrictions without any added value in terms of sports integrity and consumer protection.”

EGBA secretary general Sigrid Ligné says: “Experience in other countries has shown that overly restrictive regulations do not provide efficient protection and tend to expose players to unregulated websites based outside (the reach of) EU jurisdiction.

“The French miss an opportunity to put an end to the legal uncertainty that has prevailed in the last 4 years due to the inconsistency of the existing legislation with EU law. After years of litigation and particularly intensive parliamentary debates we are today back to square one”.

If operators have announced their intention to apply for a license in France they will do so in a context of great legal and business uncertainty, the secretary general opines.

“Finally, it is the French player who will be losing out due to an unattractive and uncompetitive national offering.”

Volcano Ash Cloud Fears Loom as Affiliate Super Show Nears

Posted under Casino News by admin on May 5, 2010 11:31 am ||

It’s being billed as the biggest gathering of online gambling professionals this industry has ever seen.  The iGaming Super Show takes place in Prague, Czech Republic May 25 through 28 but getting there might be difficult should an Iceland volcano continue to spew more ash.

Once again this weekend, airports throughout Europe were shutting down due to the dangerous flying conditions associated with the ash cloud.

Eurocontrol is in charge of  Europe’s air traffic and it said that more ash from Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that has bought Europe to a standstill, has now moved south from the North Atlantic and is spreading over the south of France.

Flight delays and cancellations are expected to continue into next week.

And even if the airspace above Prague is not affected, those travelling to the event could experience difficulties connecting through other airports.  Direct flights to Prague are either limited or too expensive.  Many travelling from North America will rely on European gateways such as London, Paris and Frankfurt.

Airspace over the southern Czech Republic was closed on Sunday to flights at altitudes under 6 kilometres though Prague’s international airport remained open.

It is not immediately known whether organizers have a contingency plan in place.  A SARS outbreak in 2003 resulted in the postponement of the biggest online gambling conference of that time, the Global iGaming Summit & Expo (GIGSE).  The popular Casino Affiliate Convention held in Amsterdam last month managed to dodge a bullet, however, the volcano ash cloud stranded many attendees once the event had concluded.

Gambling911.com will be attending this month’s iGaming Super Show, assuming the ash cloud dissipates by then.
